I just checked The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language: Fourth Edition. 2000. And, among other obvious meanings for 'vet' I found, "To subject to thorough examination or evaluation: vet a manuscript." So the term has been around at least since the Clinton administration. It's nice to know your steel trap isn't rusty. Speacking of cabinet posts, I was watching Duck Soup the other day and couldn't help but hope O'bama (didn't know he was Irish) picked folks like Pinky and Chicolini. We need some laffs.
